Typical Scene

This is what we see just about every day.

She will read the paper multiple times every day, yet still tell you she hasn't read it.  The same goes with having coffee...notice the cup within a very close distance of her hand?!

Reading the paper over and over all day would be good except that she seems to only take the negative and dwell on it.  I've tried putting other sections on top - like the style and food sections - and that sometimes works, but not sure what else to do about that.

Friday Hair Day

So, I didn't really think Granny would ever be one of those old ladies who goes to get her hair done every Friday. Well, she may be turning into that! She looks very pretty with her hair all fixed! She wouldn't let the lady cut her hair, so it was just washed (thankfully) and fixed. She keeps griping about how much hairspray the lady used - she really did use a ton! - but her hair will stay clean longer that way!!

You can't really tell from this picture, but her hair is all fluffy and cute!! The lady who did it called her a Diva! Ha! Granny didn't really get it, but they were all great with her. Fantastic Friday!!

The Sweet Tooth

This was what I found after being out for a few hours this morning!

These brownies were baked in a 9 x 13 pan last night after Granny went to bed and the pan was FULL this morning. Of course, she tells me that she didn't eat all of them and that the people who were here before her today ate most of them. I just hope she didn't give any to the dog!!

My guess is that all she has eaten today is brownies, despite the fact that she tells me she ate a good lunch. I guess brownies count as a good lunch!! Oh Granny, Granny, Granny...

Thanksgiving 2008

Thanksgiving this year was absolutely amazing!  It might have been one of the best, yet!

We woke up Thursday morning and got Granny ready to go on to Mtn. Harbor with Aunt Pat and Uncle James.  It was a huge chore to get her dressed in something halfway decent, which Mom did, thankfully.  Granny and I had even picked out her clothes the night before and laid them out in plain sight.  Apparently, her feelings had changed by the next morning!  Mom said that Granny didn't want to wear the shirt we picked out because she usually wore it as a jacket and kept trying to put other shirts/blouses under it, which obviously wouldn't work.  Well, the outfit she wore that day was what she was still wearing yesterday!!  That woman will not change clothes ever!!

Lunch at the lodge was wonderful.  Granny didn't talk much, but ate A TON!!!!!!!  She even fixed her plate all by herself and piled that stuff on there!!  I was a little nervous since none of us helped her, but she surprised us all.  She didn't talk too much during the meal, but I could tell she didn't really know why we were all eating such a big meal together.

The company was the best!!  It was Granny, Mom, Me, Ryan, Madi, Jay, Aunt Pat, Uncle James, Jimbo, and Michelle.  We had a great time together with many laughs.

And, of course...COFFEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After lunch, Pat and James brought Granny home.  By the time we got home a short time later, Granny was pissed.  Not sure why.  She spent most of the time in her room with the door closed.  We went on to Uncle Jimmy's and she got over it.

The meal there was interesting.  There were lots of people and Justin was as crazy as ever.  Granny DID NOT like him making loud noises and screaming.  Of course, that was all my fault...definitely wasn't the 5 year old's...!  She seemed happy most of the time we were there.

We came home and she went to bed exhausted.  I was very nervous about how she would react with the HUGE change in schedule, but I was very pleased with how it all went down.  I guess not realizing what's going on has its advantages!!
